Create an Avatar

• 1). Click on "Start," "All Programs," "Accessories," and select "Paint." This will open the Microsoft Paint program.
  
  
• 2). Click the Paint button, which is in the upper left corner under the Save icon. Choose "Open." Navigate to the picture that will be made into an avatar, click on it, and then select the "Open" button.
  
  
• 3). Click the "Select" down arrow and choose "Rectangular Selection." This tool will select what is highlighted to cut it out of the picture. Put the mouse at the upper left of the part of the picture you want to use, click the mouse and hold the click while dragging the mouse to the lower left of the part of the picture you want to use. Watch the bottom of the screen and note the numbers that are changing as the mouse moves. Move the mouse to the left or right to change the first number to 75 px, and then move the mouse up or down to change the second number to 75 px. Let go of the mouse button.
  
  
• 4). Click the "Crop" button. The picture is reduced to only the area that was selected, which is 75 pixels by 75 pixels.
  
  
• 5). Click the Paint button, "Save As," and select "JPEG Picture." Name the file and click the "Save" button.
