- 1). Place your camera on your tripod and compose your image.
- 2). Focus your camera one-third of the way into the scene.
- 3). Set your camera to manual exposure, and dial your camera to shoot in black-and-white mode.
- 4). Set your aperture to f11 for a large depth of field.
- 5). Twist the infrared filter into place at the end of your lens.
- 6). Take a test image with your remote shutter release and examine the histogram.
- 7). Adjust your shutter speed until your histogram shows a wide graph that ranges from pure black to pure white, indicating a properly exposed image.
