- 1). Open a Web browser and navigate to the PDF file to be viewed.
- 2). Right-click on the PDF file link INSTEAD of clicking the link. Clicking the link will attempt to load the PDF into the browser. Avoid this and instead, download the PDF to the hard drive.
- 3). Select the "Save Link As" (Firefox) or the "Save Target As" (Internet Explorer) option from the context menu. A file navigation window will appear.
- 4). Navigate to the location where the PDF file will be saved, and then click the "Save" button. The PDF file will be downloaded and saved to the hard drive.
- 5). Right-click the Windows "Start" button and select "Explore" from the context menu.
- 6). Navigate to the newly-saved PDF file.
- 7). Right-click on the PDF file and select "Open With...".
- 8). Click the PDF viewing application program link. The PDF file will open in the PDF reader. The file will open much more quickly when saved locally than when attempting to open the file over an internet connection.
