- 1). Remove the flywheel shroud from the top of the Tecumseh engine. Use the proper-sized sockets to remove the bolts around the outer edge of the shroud. Pull the shroud off to expose the flywheel.
- 2). Place the flywheel holder on the outer fins of the flywheel. Have your assistant fit the correct-sized socket on the flywheel nut in the center of the flywheel. Hold the flywheel holder firmly as your assistant unscrews the flywheel nut.
- 3). Fit the 3-arm gear puller under the outer, bottom side of the flywheel. Tighten the center bolt of the gear puller down with a proper-sized socket. Eventually, the downward pressure will pop the flywheel up and free.
- 4). Pull the flywheel off the crankshaft.
- 5). Pull the old flywheel key out of the crankshaft. Place the new one back in the crankshaft groove.
- 6). Place the flywheel back on the crankshaft so the groove in the flywheel hole lines up with the flywheel key.
- 7). Place the flywheel holder on the fins of the flywheel and hold it firmly. Have your assistant tighten the flywheel nut with a proper-sized socket.
- 8). Replace the flywheel shroud and tighten all its bolts back into place.
