The Stressed Out Bride

It seems like more and more brides these days feel overwhelmed by stress.
Trying to find time to plan a wedding while working full time, exercising, keeping a house, and trying to give quality time to your friends, family, and fiance can be downright exhausting! So what is a stressed out bride to do? The results of feeling pulled in many different directions are rarely pretty.
If you find yourself unable to concentrate at work, snapping at your fiance and mother, and not enjoying the wedding planning at all, beware! You may be only one step away from losing it altogether and turning into a bridezilla! Before that happens, it is time to find a better way to manage your life.
The first thing to do is stop.
Take a breath.
Do nothing for at least thirty minutes.
But wait, you protest, there are invitations to address, a presentation to prepare for Monday morning, and dinner with the in-laws in one hour! I repeat: stop and take a breath.
Sometimes we get so caught up in our own busyness and mayhem that we become unfocused and ineffective.
The best way to handle this is to take some time to evaluate the situation with a calm and level head.
If you make a coherent plan, you will find that the feeling of being organized helps to alleviate the feeling of being in over your head.
And besides, every time that you cross a completed task off of your list, you will have the satisfaction of achievement.
So what is that plan going to be? Well, the first step is almost always to simply.
There are only so many hours in the day.
If you find yourself staying up until midnight creating handmade wedding favors, you are attempting to do too much.
You either have to find things to let go of, or hire someone to help you, like a good wedding planner.
Give yourself permission to do less.
Your wedding will not be any less beautiful if you rent the ivory tablecloths offered by the caterer than if you spend five hours driving all over town hunting down "the perfect shade of ecru".
So many of the minor details that brides obsess over will go completely unnoticed by 99% of the wedding guests.
Allow yourself to let them float out of your mind.
There, don't you feel better already? Find other ways to make more efficient use of your time.
The internet can be your best friend for quick and easy shopping.
You can find all sorts of beautiful things online, from jewelry gifts for your bridesmaids to the perfect wedding gift for your fiance.
Try to consolidate your efforts as much as possible.
If you can find your bridesmaid jewelry gifts, bridal headpiece, and a special necklace for your honeymoon all in the same online store, you can save yourself both time and shipping charges.
There are a couple of things that you should not cut out of your schedule, no matter how hectic it has become.
Time with your fiance is one of them.
The other big thing to fit into your schedule is exercise.
For many busy people, it is the first thing to go, but keeping active and fit will really help you feel more energized and relaxed.
And with your wedding approaching, you will want to look great in your gown.
If an hour at the gym is just too much to squeeze in, find ways to combine your workout with things that you would be doing anyway.
For instance, that quality time with your fiance could be spent on a scenic bike ride or a hike to a beautiful mountain peak.
That way, you get the best of both.
Most people will feel stressed at some point while planning a wedding.
It is a lot to get done when your life is already too full.
Make sure that you find the time to relax and let go of your stress, and above all, remember to enjoy your wedding as much as possible.
