Adapted from the first three volumes of a series of children's books by Kathryn Lasky, this animated fantasy-adventure was directed by Zack Snyder (300, Watchmen). A visually arresting movie, it was shown in theaters in 3-D. The story involves a war between groups of owls, with the Guardians on one side representing the good and the Pure Ones on the other side representing evil.
The hero is an owlet named Soren, and he ends up pitted against his brother Klutt, who goes over to the dark side. Voices heard include those of Helen Mirren, Geoffrey Rush and Hugo Weaving.
