AIFF President Praful Patel has called the ISL a venture of its kind as it has been approved by FIFA in any part of the world. According to Patel, I-League will continue to be the mainstay of Indian Football. He further added saying, €We are pleased to get into the partnership with IMG Reliance and Star to bring up Indian football. We are all looking forward to the exciting journey ahead.€

Under Praful Patel profile as the chief of AIFF, the organization is committed to developing the game in the country especially with U-17 World Cup to be scheduled in the country in 2017. The governing body is also bidding to host Club World Cup in 2017 and 2018. Patel is explained how he had a discussion between him and Mukesh Ambani as they propelled the birth of IMG - Reliance. The ISL was about to take place in the month of September, but due to some reasons showed by the organizer IMG Reliance, AIFF had to postpone the tournament to October.

AIFF has been able to draw a structured framework for the sports in the country as it is now not only pitching for international leagues and tournaments, but also contemplating on the development of the sport from the elementary level. With the execution of Grass Roots Program (GRP) and Youth Development Program (YDP), AIFF is preparing a substantial groundwork for the young players. These programs are meant to initiate best practices and modernized techniques in the teams which will propel the young players to pursue this sport and represent the country in future. The bagging of U-17 FIFA World Cup is a real achievement for the country which has been scheduled in 2017.
