How to Author DVD Using Nero

    Launch Nero Vision

    • 1). Click on the "Start" button at the bottom left of the Windows desktop.

    • 2). In Windows XP, hover your mouse over "All Programs" to expand the list of programs. In Vista or Windows 7, click on "All Programs." Look for the Nero program group.

    • 3). In Windows XP, hover your mouse over the Nero program group in order to see all of the utilities packaged with Nero. In Vista or Windows 7, click on the "Nero" program group to open it.

    • 4). Move your cursor to the "Nero Vision" entry and left-click on it.

    Author a DVD

    • 1). Under the menu labeled "What would you like to do?," left-click on "Make DVD" and left-click again on "DVD Video."

    • 2). Click "Add Video Files" on the menu to the right of the Nero Vision window and select the video files you would like to put on the DVD. Note that DVDs can only store about two hours of video. You can put more than that on a disc, but the quality of the video will be lowered to compensate.

    • 3). Click the "Next" button after you have selected your videos. The Menu selection screen will appear, allowing you to select a pre-made template to use as the menu for the DVD. If you only have one video, you may want to use the "No Menu" option under the template drop-down list.

    • 4). Click the "Next" button. Nero Vision will present you with options to make changes to the basic template you selected for the menu. The options are located on the right side of the window, and allow you to change the layout, buttons, background, text style and highlight colors. You can customize the menu to your liking, or accept the standard menu template you previously selected.

    • 5). Click the "Next" button. A picture of a DVD remote will appear along with a simulated TV screen showing how your DVD disc will behave when played in a DVD player. Use the mouse to click on the different buttons of the remote to see how your DVD will react. Make sure the DVD works correctly with the navigation buttons (if you have a menu set up) and buttons such as "Menu" and "Title."

    • 6). Click the "Next" button. Click on the "Burn To" option on the right side of the screen and select the DVD burner in your computer. Then click the "Burn" button. Nero Vision will convert your videos to DVD format and burn the resulting files to the disc. This process could take a while, depending on the speed of your computer.
