Honda Activa Vs Hero Pleasure

In India there is high demand for low capacity scooters and bikes. People use small fuel efficient bikes for daily commuting. The ridability through the congested city roads and the easiness in finding parking places are the main reasons for the commuters opting for the scooters. The Hero pleasure and the Honda Activa are two such popular bikes.

The Hero Pleasure launched 2008 is a 100 cc scooter upgraded in 2014. The original Pleasure is priced Rupees 42,900 and 43,300 for the standard and special variants and the 2014 version 47,620. The Honda Activa is the largest selling two-wheeler from the Honda Motors. Launched in 2004 and upgraded in 2009 and 2013 the Activa has 2 variants the Activa-I priced Rupees 44,592 and the Deluxe priced 47,569. In April 2014 a 125 cc variant has also been added.

The instrument panel of the Pleasure has an analogue speedometer, a digital fuel gauge, a low fuel indication and a stand alarm. The Honda Activa has an analogue speedometer, trip meter and tachometer and a digital fuel gauge with low fuel and low oil indications. The Pleasure comes in colours of candy blazing red and black, candy blazing red and cream. The Activa comes in colours of wild purple, geney grey metallic, candy lucid red and metallic black colours.

The high rigidity under bone type chassis of the Pleasure has bottom loaded springs at the front and swing arm with springs at the rear. The Honda Activa has high rigidity under bone type chassis with spring loaded hydraulic suspensions at both the ends. The 10" alloy wheels of the Pleasure has 3.0x10 tubeless tyres at both the ends and the Activa has 10" alloy wheels with 90/100x10-53J tubeless tyres. The brakes are 130 mm drum type at both the wheels for both the bikes.

The Pleasure is powered by a102 cc, 7 bhp, 7.8 NM torque engine. The fuel system is carburetor type and the ignition CDI type. The more powerful Activa has a 109 cc, 8 bhp, 9 NM torque engine with carburetor type fuel system and CDI injection. The Activa takes 10 seconds and the Pleasure 9.9 for 0 to 60 kmph acceleration. The Activa has a better top speed of 85 kmph than the 77 kmph of the Pleasure. The Activa gives better mileages of 55 kmpl than the 50 kmpl of the Pleasure.

The 1761 mm long Activa has a better ground clearance of 153 mm than 125 mm of the 1750 mm long Pleasure. Both the bikes weigh 123/124 kg.

The ride comfort, low prices and compact design are the plus points of the Pleasure. The Activa has a better fuel efficiency and better brake action as well as over all riding comfort.
