- 1). Contact your telephone network provider to see if it provides a land line texting service. Depending on how old your phone is, you may need to purchase a new handset with a digital display in order to send texts from your land line.
- 2). Write your text message on your land line handset. This can usually be done in the same way as you text on a cell phone, with clusters of three letters linked to the numbers 0 to 9.
- 3). Access texting options via the Settings options on your handset's screen. Change texting options to predictive or manual, depending on your requirements. Predictive texting prompts words for you as you type, whereas the manual setting lets you type texts one letter at a time.
- 4). Type in the number of the person you want to send the text to once you have completed the message. The numbers appear on the display screen as you type them.
- 5). Push the "Send" button on your phone handset. Receive a confirmation text confirming the text has been sent.
- 6). Choose to have the text message read out in a male or female voice if sending to another land line. This option appears onscreen if sending to a land line number. Voice reading is not a requirement if the other person also has a text-capable land line. However, if he has an older phone, he can only listen to the message as read by a computerized voice.
