- 1). Download and install the Avidemux software through the distribution's package manager or directly from the Avidemux website (see "Resources" section for link).
- 2). Open the "Avidemux" program. It will be located under the "Sound and Video" section of the main "Applications" menu.
- 3). Click the "Open" button and choose the AVI file that you want to convert.
- 4). Choose the "VCD" option under the "Video" drop-down list.
- 5). Choose your preferred audio codec under the "Audio" drop-down list.
- 6). Choose the "MPEG" option under the "Format" drop-down list.
- 7). Click the "Save" button to start the video conversion.
- 1). Download and install the VLC software through your distribution's package manager or directly from the VLC website (see "Resources" section for link).
- 2). Open a terminal window. The terminal window will be found under the "System Tools" or "Accessories" section of the "Applications" menu.
- 3). Type the command "cd Video/" to navigate to the directory where the AVI file is located. Replace "Video" with the correct directory name.
- 4). Type the command "vlc original.avi --sout='#transcode{vcodec=mp1v, acodec=mpga}:std{access=file, mux=mpeg1,url=result.mpg}'" to convert the AVI file to the MPEG format. Replace "original.avi" and "result.mpg" with the correct file names.
- 5). Type the command "exit" to close the terminal session.
- 1). Download and install the Hyper Video software. It can be downloaded directly from the Hyper Video website (see "Resources" section for link).
- 2). Open the "Hyper Video" software. It will be found under the "Sound and Video" section of the "Applications" menu.
- 3). Click the "Open" button at the top of the screen and choose the AVI file that you want to convert.
- 4). Type a location for the converted file in the "Output Directory" text box.
- 5). Click on ".mpg" in the "Extension" drop-down box.
- 6). Choose your preferred video encoder under the "Encoder" section.
- 7). Click the "Create Command" button to view the command that will be used.
- 8). Click the "Convert" button to convert the video.
