Different Hair Removal Methods

Taking a look at hair removal would take us into the world of temporal and permanent hair removal systems and treatments. It should not be difficult to understand the different groups since the names are pretty self explanatory. One gives lasting solution while the other solution last for just a while.

All around us we can find different methods and ways of removing hair. To make the task of examining the different hair removal methods easier, we would look at them under the two major types of hair removal methods. Some examples are listed below.

Temporary Hair Removal: Another name for this is depilation. This group involves all the methods that result in temporary respite from hair growth. Everyone knows that hairs do not grow from the top of the skin, they start from beneath the skin. This being the case, it should also be clear that approaching hair removal by treating the hair above the skin can not be a permanent solution. Here are some methods that are temporary:

* Shaving
* Use of Powders and Creams
* Waxing and Tweezing
* Sugaring

As ineffective or temporary as any of these methods are, almost everyone has at one time or the other employed them as a hair removal method. These methods are still highly in use. There is also every indication that they would still remain in use. There are different reasons why this is so. One is that we may just want to reduce the hair and not totally remove it. At other times we may just want to remove hair for a moment just like a person going into surgery would likely have some hairs shaved depending on what part of the body the surgery is to take place. We are not overlooking the possibility of budgetary issues. This is especially true for people who go for waxing and sugaring which is an attempt at removing hair for a longer period of time.

Permanent Hair Removal: In many cases methods regarded as offering permanent hair removal do not necessarily offer this. what you would most likely find is long term solutions. You can only achieve permanent hair removal if hair is totally prevented from growing.

Some popular permanent hair removal treatments are:

* Hair Growth Inhibitors
* Epilation
* Electrolysis

 and more.

One of the most popular methods today is the laser hair removal method. This seems to be the most popular and most effective form of hair removal available today. We can also look at electrolysis as one of the highly effective methods. The unfortunate thing about this treatment is that it takes too much time. Each hair has to receive special attention. Some treatments take months to over a year.

Just like with electrolysis, laser treatments also target the hair follicles. The hair follicles are exposed to light energy from a laser device. When this light energy is absorbed by the hair follicles, it is converted to heat energy. The ensuing heat damages the hair follicle and results in a severe reduction in hair growth or in some cases permanent stop to hair growth.

Each method has its advantage and disadvantage. As more people use laser epilation, they discover that the advantages seem to outweigh whatever disadvantages it may have. This is especially true if you receive your treatment from a laser hair removal specialist.

For the purpose of emphasis, do not attempt to get laser hair removal treatment without first consulting with a specialist.
