How to Recover Pumpkin Seeds

    • 1). Cut a circle in the top of your pumpkin. You want the circle large enough to fit your hand through. The bigger you can make it the better. Make sure to cut all the way through the pumpkin wall, as you will remove this piece.

    • 2). Gently remove the top of the pumpkin. If there are any seeds attached to it, scrape them off using your spoon and place them in one of your bowls. Throw the top away.

    • 3). Scrape the inside of the pumpkin wall using your spoon. It is much easier to hold the spoon near the base of the handle as opposed to the top. Place all the meat and seeds into the same bowl you used for the seeds attached to the top of the pumpkin. Continue until the pumpkin is empty of meat and seeds. You can then throw away or carve the pumpkin.

    • 4). Pick up small handfuls of meat and seeds from your bowl, pick out the seeds and place them in your other bowl. You can use the meat for pies and other recipes You can also refrigerate or freeze it for later use.

    • 5). Remove all of the meat from the pumpkin seeds and rinse them to prepare them for drying or roasting.

    • 6). Spread the seeds around your cookie sheet. If you are going to use them for planting next year, allow them to dry completely. If you are going to roast them, you only need to allow the surface moisture to dry.
