There's just something so different about being the skinny guy that's just not fair.
For some reason the fat kid can make fun of you, but not the other way around otherwise then there could be hell to pay.
As a kid in high school I could never wrap my head around this because they were the one with the weight problem, not me.
The truth is that if you're skinny then you are truly blessed.
You have a fast metabolism and you can eat almost anything that you want and the chances are that you probably won't ever get fat.
However, the advantage of not gaining fat easily is also coupled together with the handicap of not being able to gain muscle easily either and this is where I want to help you.
Here are four keys that I discovered that worked for me when I was trying to build muscle.
KEY1: You have to eat a lot more than you currently are.
This can be a difficult one because stuffing yourself isn't exactly easy and there are other problems.
If you're like I was, then you probably forget to eat and you have a small stomach.
I overcame this by just simply having more than 3 meals a day.
I found that I couldn't eat much but the food that I did eat would digest very fast and I could eat more an hour or two later.
Be careful with this one though because you don't want to eat the wrong kinds of food.
You want to be eating a lot of food that is good for you.
There's no point gaining weight if you're going to die from oilrig arteries.
KEY2: Either do exercises such as lifting weights or do a sport that is physically challenging.
It's no good eating all of that food if you're not going to turn it into muscle.
KEY3: Try not to run too much.
A common miss-conception of gaining muscle is that you have to run or do cross-country.
However, even though this will make you fit it will also stunt your muscle growth.
By running all of that energy that you get from food goes towards running, leaving your muscle with nothing but lactic acid.
This was a big mistake of mine that you should avoid.
KEY4: Rest your body and don't overdo your workout.
This was another pitfall for me.
I just wanted to push that bench press as much as I could but I didn't realise that it was making me weaker.
You need to get plenty of sleep or rest so that your muscles can recover after each workout.
If you workout too much your muscles won't be able to handle it and you won't gain any weight whatsoever.
I have given you the 4 keys that helped me to gain weight when I was tired of being the skinny guy.
If you follow them I am sure that you will notice a difference and you will gain weight.
However, just knowing these keys won't help you gain a peanut of muscle.
You have to put in some effort and put them into practice.
So what are you waiting for? Get out there, do some hard work, follow the keys and you won't regret it.
