- 1). Open the application by selecting "Start," "Programs" and "Microsoft Word."
- 2). Click on "File," "New," "Installed Templates" and view the list of available templates. If there are none installed on your computer that appeal to you, click on "Templates on Office Online" to select from one of the many brochure templates available online.
- 3). Scroll through the list until you locate "Brochure." Click on "Brochure" and all of the brochure templates will display on the screen.
- 4). Survey the templates by clicking on the title or the image of the template itself. You will notice the selection includes brochures for various industries, businesses, organizations and events.
- 5). Click on the miniature image of the template that best suits your needs. This will install the template into a new document using the selected layout.
- 6). Follow template instructions and replace the text with the text of your choosing. Limit text to less than 400 words to leave one-third to one-half of the available space for graphics.
- 7). Click on each picture you would like to change to select it. Select "Picture" from the "Insert" menu and select "From File." Select your new graphics to replace the existing artwork and click "Insert."
- 8). Spell check and proofread the content prior to saving your final product.
- 9). Click on "File," "Print" and print the first page of the brochure using the default recommended settings on your printer. Once the first page has completed, turn the page over and re-insert it into the printer to print only the second page. Once both sides have printed, fold the paper twice to create your tri-fold brochure.
