- 1). Plug the USB memory stick or external hard drive into your PS3.
- 2). Scroll through the XMB main menu until you get to "Settings" and then select "System Settings" from the list. Read through the options on this submenu and select "Backup Utility."
- 3). Highlight and select "Back Up" from the list and you will be prompted to confirm your decision. Select "Yes" and you will be prompted a second time to confirm that you want to save the back-up data to an external source. Select "Yes" and you will need to select the save location. Highlight and select the hard drive or USB flash drive and the process will begin. Wait for the process to complete before disconnecting the hardware.
