- Choose an ordinary square cardboard box of sturdy construction; it should be large enough to hold several cards but small enough to carry comfortably. A perfect size would be approximately 18 inches square, but if the wedding is very large, you may want to choose a larger box. The box needs to have all four sides intact plus a top and bottom. Enclose the box completely and cut a 1-inch by 8-inch slit in the top of the box.
If you do not have access to the perfect size square box, make your own by cutting six 18-inch squares of sturdy cardboard. Take one section and cut a 1-inch by 8-inch opening in the very center. Tape all six squares into a cardboard cube with white or light-colored duct tape. Turn the box and set upright so the side with the slit is on top. - When deciding on how to decorate the box, first research the colors and designs integrated into the wedding plans. The box should match the wedding theme, decorations and linens used for an extra special effect. Select a gift wrap that reflects the general decor of the wedding and purchase enough to cover the box completely.

Wrap the box as you would a gift using clear, invisible tape. Carefully cut out the gift wrap over the 1-inch by 8-inch slot for easy insertion of the cards. Add flower sprays, ribbon and bows in the wedding colors and designs to the gift wrapped box for extra effect. Place the card box in a prominent position on the table or area provided for the wedding gifts. If the wedding is large or many gifts are expected, assigning an attendant at the gift table to receive and arrange the gifts and insert the cards in the box is an elegant extra touch. - For an extra-elegant version of this gift box, wrap the box in a fabric that matches the wedding decor and secure it with a hot glue gun. A great fabric to use would be the identical fabric of the bridesmaids' dresses. Add trim and other decorations to match the wedding theme.
