Once mankind figures out how to manipulate the DNA, we are going to have to have mandatory required manipulation of folks who have various diseases and genetic flaws to prevent further reproduction issues in subsequent generations.
Most religious folks decry this, and yet, we must remember that there are health care issues and if in the future governments will take care of health care of their citizens, they need to hedge their bets in advance to prevent further runaway costs.
This surely does not fit well with the purists and we all understand their plight and fight, but it is something we must do, as there are just too many horrific medical consequences that cripple, and kill, cutting life short in an individual's prime.
If we solve these future problems in the present period, we save a life in future generations and improve the quality of life and burden on parents and family far off into the future.
It's time we had a real scientific discussion with America and the world, one void of religious fanaticism.
For if we can wipe out, at least for now some of the worst genetic problems that we face in modern civilization, we will be able to all live fuller, happier and more rewarding lives.
Now then, I realize that modern medicine is not quite ready to do this right now.
But it will be in 10-years, so the best time to have the discussion is now.
Because if we don't the research will come about slower, causing more people and new generations pain.
