One basic thing that is common to almost all guitars is their basic body structure.
Irrespective of which kind of guitar you want to play, they will all have the same guitar parts, although there might be minor differences here and there in the number of strings, the shape of the guitar's body or the color and material of the guitar body.
In order to learn and master guitar, you will need to learn about the purpose and functional aspects of each body part in order to deal with trouble shooting whenever a problem is encountered with the instrument.
The most conspicuous and largest part of a guitar is its wooden butterfly shaped body, with a characteristic upper bout which is primarily used to rest the guitar on your leg while you play it.
The wooden body has a sound hole at the centre, which amplifies the sound produced by the vibrating strings of the guitar.
The wooden body measures just about 2 - 3 mm in thickness and is internally supported by several internal brackets.
Although acoustic and classical guitars have a hollow body and a sound hole, electric guitars have a solid body, devoid of any sound hole.
The thin long piece of wood that runs along from the body is known as the neck (or the fret board), parallel to which, the guitar strings run.
These strings are connected to the bridge on one end and to the head of the guitar on the other end, where they are tightened to an optimum tautness level using the nuts and the tuning pegs.
The nuts are either made up of metal, plastic or bone and are provided with a threading system, which allow you to tighten the string by winding it up around the nut and guiding it up to the tuners.
The tuners, nuts and tuning pegs attached to the head stock are all useful for adjusting the pitch produced by each string of the guitar.
The short metal strips that run transversely along the neck or the fret board at regular intervals, are known as the frets.
This is where you will press down the string with, using your fingers, so as to give a different sound quality to the note played.
When you learn & master guitar, you will realize the importance of this lesson which teaches you about the different parts of a guitar, so that you are able to appreciate the usefulness of each single component and understand how each component effects the sound quality produced.
