Differences in the Chevy LS, LT & LTZ Tahoe

    Background

    • The Chevrolet Tahoe originally was sold as a Chevy Blazer. Its near twin, the GMC Yukon, was first badged as the Jimmy. The Jimmy was phased out in 1992 and replaced with the Yukon, which features virtually the same trim options as the Tahoe. The Blazer remained until 1994 when it was renamed the Tahoe.

    Trim Levels

    • Most U.S.-made cars, trucks, SUVs and crossovers are equipped with two or more trim levels. Base models feature standard equipment and no optional equipment such as a navigation system, performance packages or leather seats. Up until recently, many base models did not include air-conditioning, although most automakers today equip their cars with A/C as standard equipment. The higher-priced models can feature virtually any combination of optional equipment a buyer desires. Chevrolet uses the LS, LT and LTZ trim levels for other Chevy productions as well. Tahoe prices begin at $36,965 for the LS; $39,315 for the LT; and $48,550 for the LTZ.

    LS

    • Inside, the 2009 and 2010 two-wheel-drive Tahoe LS models feature as standard equipment nine-passenger seating, cloth seats, CD/MP3 player, audio jack and 17-inch aluminum wheels. Under the hood is a standard 295-horsepower 4.8-liter V-8 engine generating 305 lb-ft of torque with a four-speed automatic transmission.

    LT 1LT

    • The same model year Tahoe LT 1LT features as standard equipment eight-passenger seating with power front bucket seats, fog lamps, 18-inch aluminum wheels and body-colored mirrors and door handles. Under the hood is a standard FlexFuel gasoline/ethanol 5.3-liter V-8 engine providing 320 hp and 340 lb-ft of torque. It's also equipped with a six-speed automatic transmission.

    LT 2LT

    • The second-level two-wheel-drive LT 2LT is equipped with leather-appointed front and second row seats, six-disc CD/MP3 changer, three-zone automatic climate control, remote vehicle starter, home remote transmitter and rear parking assist. The standard FlexFuel gas/ethanol engine is a 320-hp 5.3-liter V-8 with 340 lb-ft of torque.

    LTZ

    • The high-end luxury LTZ counts as standard equipment seven-passenger seating, power front bucket seats, second-row bucket seats, perforated leather in the front and second-row seats, heated front and second-row seats, a 10-speaker Bose sound system, power remote rear lift gate and 20-inch polished aluminum wheels. It's powered by a standard gasoline-powered 320-hp 5.3-liter V-8 generating 340 lb-ft of torque. A 395-hp 6.2-liter is available on the 4X4 LTZ.

    Dress Up the LS

    • Some items are not available on the base LS model. No power sunroof, navigation radio or DVD entertainment system are available. But the LS can be ordered from the dealer with the FlexFuel gas/ethanol engine, rear-view camera, remote vehicle start and rear parking assist.
