Curing Bad Breath - Simple and Effective Ways

Bad breath, or halitosis, is one of the most common dilemmas of people nowadays.
People are always searching for ways on how to cure bad breath permanently.
Granted, there is no such effective way in curing bad breath forever one can choose to follow simple and effective ways in order to lessen the chances or the occurrence of bad breath.
One of the many ways to do is to keep your mouth moisturized as much as possible.
This is because when your mouth is dry, it becomes a save haven in which oral bacteria will thrive in.
Water, for one thing, is the most effective way of doing so.
It is important to drink water regularly, probably even more than the often recommended 8-12 glasses of water a day.
The saliva, in which our mouth naturally produces every second of the day, is a proven and effective way in curing bad breath and preventing it, since it helps wash away food particles, as well as bacteria because of the antiseptic property that the enzymes in the saliva have.
Ever noticed that after you wake up, your breath starts to smell awful? This is because when you're asleep, production of saliva slows down, which means that food particles and bacteria tend to accumulate while you are getting your beauty rest.
One way to promote the production of saliva, aside from eating, is to chew a gum.
Just remember though, that instead of chewing a regular gum, make sure that it has no sugar.
Instead, chew a gum that contains xylitol, which is considered to be sugar substitute, and helps prevent bacteria from reproducing inside your mouth.
Also, it would help to brush your teeth regularly, and make sure that when brushing, you include your cheeks as well as your tongue.
More than half of the percentage of most oral bacteria tends to accumulate, not in the teeth and in between dentures, but in your tongue as well as your cheeks, which is why it is important to clean them.
It would be wise to note that brushing your teeth regularly, and making sure that you have proper dental hygiene, will help in preventing the occurrence of tonsillitis or tonsil stones.
Using a mouthwash might also help in keeping your breath fresh and smelling good.
However, this is only a temporary cure and most do not really address the main problem, and because of the alcohol content in most commercial mouthwashes, they may even be partly responsible for the occurrence of bad breath.
The most important tip of all though, is not brushing your teeth regularly, or keeping it moisturized, or even using a mouthwash.
But rather, to visit your dentist every three-six months, in order to have your teeth and mouth checked for any oral and gum problems so that they can be addressed immediately.
Remember, no one knows more about bad breath and halitosis than your dentist.
