The Remission Project

So, what is The Remission Project? Well, it was an idea that came about from 4-time survivor of cancer, Ryan Hamner. Hamner, who battled cancer from ages 5 to 21, wanted to bring people affected by cancer together. This means patients, survivors, family and friends of patients and medical staff. It was a project not about money, but about hope.

The project was founded when Ryan returned from his "Hear the Heart" tour in 2010. - So impacted by a tour that took him all over the south and southeast performing for people affected by cancer, Hamner decided to take things to the next level. And that is when The Remission Project was founded.

The project was designed to focus on promoting survivorship, education, the sharing of stories and more. It would also be connected with Hamner's music. Hamner, who wrote the song, "This is Remission", also wrote the song, "Survivors Survive" in 2011. Today the song "Survivors Survive" has been used at survivor events all around the world! - And the homemade video has well over 130,000 views on YouTube.

In 2012 when The Remission Project went in a direction Hamner did not envision, he founded 2survive. It was The Remission Project 2.0 so to speak. 2survive is an online community for people affected by cancer. Its purpose is to again, bring people affected by cancer together, educate, support and spread hope.

Today, the Facebook fan page for 2survive has over 8,000 international fans that have all been touched by cancer in some way. On the page you can find survivors discussing treatment options, the joys of beating cancer and sharing stories about their cancer journey or a journey of a friend or family member.

2survive has connected current patients with survivors for discussions on treatment. 2survive has also reached out to many survivors and provided everything from diet plans to gifts for young survivors.

2survive is a one-man operation. Everything from the graphic design, to the HTML coding, to the t-shirt design is Hamner's job, and one he doesn't take lightly.

Featured on the site are write-ups from skin cancer doctors and even brain research scientists from the Mayo Clinic. 2survive is growing every single day and reaching more and more people. It's all about hope, making a difference and helping people.

Do you have a friend or family member that is undergoing cancer treatment? Are they looking for a community to talk with other cancer survivors about their treatments, etc? - Well 2survive might just be a good place for them!
