How to Stiffen Motorbike Forks

    • 1). Lay out the motorcycle fork on a flat surface. Wipe away all visible dust and debris with a clean rag. Add dish soap and water to the rag. Wipe away the tough grease from the surface of the forks. This will make it easier to stiffen and strengthen to forks.

    • 2). Spray the motorcycle forks with a paint stripper to remove the paint from the surface. Spread out the stripper over the entire area and wipe it away with a clean rag. Sand down the entire surface with 220-grit sandpaper. Move the sandpaper over the surface in a circular motion.

    • 3). Wipe away all the grits left over from the sandpaper with a clean rag. Ensure all debris has been removed from the forks. Inspect the forks and check that all the visible rust has been removed. Sand over the area once again with steel wool until all the rust has been removed.

    • 4). Wipe the forks clean with dish soap. Cover the 220-grit sandpaper in dish soap and smooth out the surface of the motorcycle forks. This will stiffen the surface of the forks. Dry off the area with a clean rag.

    • 5). Buff the surface with a buffing pad. Attach the pad to a power drill and move it in a circular motion over the entire surface. Go from one side to the other until the entire surface has been buffed and is stiffened.
