- 1). Go to King Zora in Zora's domain, which is to the east of Hyrule Castle. Enter the domain and walk up the long flight of steps past the swimming pool. At the top of the steps, you will find King Zora. Show King Zora the bottle with the letter inside, which you should have found while swimming in Lake Hylia. The King will shift to the left of his perch, allowing you to go into the water temple. The temple is in the form of king Jabu-Jabu, a massive fish.
- 2). Go to Lake Hylia, which is in the northern area of Hyrule. Walk into the lake and swipe a bottle into the water to catch a fish. Go back to Jabu-Jabu and take out the fish in front of his mouth. After you do this, the great fish will inhale deeply in order to eat the fish. The great suction will pull you in with the fish and bring you into the temple.
- 3). Kill all of the enemies in the first room. You will then see a switch dangling from the back of Jabu's mouth, like a uvula; you will see switches like this one throughout the temple. Hit the switch with your slingshot.
- 4). Walk into the next room, which should look like it has many vortexes on the floor. You'll encounter Princess Ruto, a blue fish on two legs. The first time you talk to Ruto, she will run away and fall into a vortex; follow her. Approach Ruto for a second time; this time she will tell you to carry her.
- 5). Go out the back door. In the next room, throw Ruto across the room onto a platform. Step on the switch next to the entrance of the room; this will raise the water level. Swim across to get Ruto, and then jump on the platform, which will take you upwards. When it stops, hit the switch behind you and go through the door. You'll be in a room with three paths.
- 6). Avoid the enemies, walk down the path to the right and drop Ruto on a switch on the ground. Go inside and defeat all of the enemies; you will receive the boomerang.
- 7). Go back to the beginning of the room where the path started. Defeat the enemy in the room down the path to the left, and you'll get the compass. Go back to the start of the path, and take the easternmost path.
- 8). Turn left at the next fork in the hallway. Defeat the enemy in the room at the end of this hallway.
- 9). Go back to the room where you saw the three roads diverging. Take the northern pathway; there will be a room at the end of the path. Enter the room and defeat the enemy inside of it.

Return to the room with the vortexes where you first found Ruto. There should be a new vortex in the northwest corner of the room; walk into the vortex and you will fall into a new room. - 11
Throw Ruta where she asks to be thrown. The platform she is on will go up and out of the room, leaving behind a massive octopus monster. - 12
Defeat the monster by throwing your boomerang to strike the weak spot on the monster's backside. By striking its weak spot, you will stun the monster; when it's stunned, slash it with your sword. - 13
Climb onto the platform and ride it up to the second floor. Follow the hallway into the next room, where you will cross an opening on blocks that shake. - 14
Go into the next room and ride the platform down to the first floor. In this room, you will see a switch at the end of a path that curves along the wall. Halfway down the path you will see a wooden crate. Place the wooden crate on the switch to open a door. - 15
Climb the vines in next room and strike a switch by throwing your boomerang. This will reveal a door across the room. - 16
Go through the new door and down the hallway to meet the boss: Barinade.
