- 1). Pour 5 tbsp. of regular dish soap into the toilet on top of the clogged toilet paper. Allow it a few minutes to sit. Boil a pot of water on the stove. Add the pot of boiling hot water to the toilet.
- 2). Plunge once with the plunger. If the clog remains, plunge again. Flush the toilet and plunge as the toilet is flushing to get the toilet paper to go down. Repeat this process until the toilet paper has disappeared down the toilet.
- 3). Stick the padded end of the closed auger into the toilet drain. Turn the crank handle of the auger. Turn until pressure is felt. This is the auger putting pressure on the toilet paper that is clogging the drain. Keep turning the crank once you feel pressure and slowly pull the auger from the drain. The remaining toilet paper will come out with it.
- 4). Completely remove the closed auger and all of the remaining toilet paper it pulled up. Flush the toilet a few times to make sure everything is in good working order.
