Typical Recovery Time From Acoustic Neuroma Surgery

    Intensive Care Unit

    • Following your acoustic neuroma surgery, you will be moved to the intensive care unit, where you will spend at least one night. After the first night in ICU, you may be moved to a general hospital room.

    Hospital Stay

    • You hospital stay may last approximately four to six days. You physician may want to monitor your healing and level of pain before releasing you to go home.

    Home Recovery

    • Once you are home, you can expect the recovery period to last at least four to six weeks.

    Restrictions

    • Your level of activity may be restricted during your home recovery period. For instance, your doctor may advise you not to drive.

    Follow-Up

    • You will most likely be scheduled to return to your doctor's office a week to four weeks after the operation for a follow-up. Your doctor will assess your recovery and determine how much longer it may take.
