Sometimes, due to injury, time limitations, or interruptions in life, a runner will stop running.
With a step by step plan, you can start running again.
Injuries and time away from the running shoes can all be overcome one step at a time.
On the first day back on the road, take it slow, turtle pace slow.
Start with walking, Limit the time of the walk to five minuets out and five minuets back.
A slow start will keep you from injuring yourself, or creating a new injury.
Plan to start right away.
When the alarm clock rings literally roll out of bed to the floor.
No thinking about it.
If you want to go walking that day, just roll and go.
In the second week increase the walk to one more telephone pole a day.
A slow increase in the distance will allow your body to readjust to your new active lifestyle.
Setting a small goal to just one more telephone pole will allow you to push yourself without having to ask if you can do it.
Say to yourself.
"Just one more telephone pole longer.
I can walk to the next one.
I can do it.
" In the third week increase the pace.
Try to decrease the time you are gone by five minuets.
Quickening your pace will benefit your workout just as much as increasing the distance.
Time how long it takes to walk for five telephone poles.
Then for the next five telephone poles try to beat that time.
This will allow you to gage how fast you are going and if you can increase the pace.
In the fourth week, add intervals of jogging.
Jog one telephone pole the first day.
Then jog one telephone pole, and walk on telephone pole the second day.
Continue this trend until you can jog the entire distance.
The fifth week allow your workout to level off to one set distance.
Keep this pace until your fitness catches up to the pace.
When the distance becomes easier you can add distance and decrease time.
Change things up now and then with different exercise activities.
Choose bicycle riding, weight lifting, or swimming to stay engaged in your fitness.
Finding new locations to jog will keep it exciting and new.
The extra effort it takes to find a new trail will be well worth the increase in interest in your workout.
Take a camera on your next run and record the amazing scenery and skies.
This will provide an appreciation of the beauty around you and will create gratitude for your new healthy body.
Meditation will provide peace for your mind and body.
Set aside some you time.
Take a bath and allow yourself to relax and unwind from your fast paced world.
Giving yourself this time to rediscover your strength and value will provide a peace with your body and your world.
With a little commitment and time, you will be pleasantly surprised with how quickly the body will respond to the increase in activity.
Soon you will be back to your fit and energetic self.
Before you know it, you will be back in the running game.
