Description
The Army Overseas Service ribbon is 1 3/8 inches in width and has vertical stripes. The first stripe is 3/16 inch of National Flag Blue followed by 5/16 inch of Grotto, 1/16 inch of Golden Yellow and a middle stripe of1/4 inch of Brick Red. The following stripes are 1/16 inch of Golden Yellow, 5/16 inch of Grotto Blue, and 3/16 inch of National Flag Blue.
There is no medal for this ribbon
The Army Overseas Service ribbon is awarded to all members of the Army, Army National Guard, and Army Reserve in an active Reserve status after successfully completing an overseas tour as long as there is no campaign medal for the tour for which the award is being given.
If the recipient had an Active Army status on or after 1 August 1981 the ribbon may be awarded retroactively with a normal overseas tour completion.
AR 600-8-22 lists the criteria for award of the ribbon.
The Secretary of the Army established the Army Overseas Service Ribbon on 10 April 1981.
Succeeding tours are indicated on the ribbon by the use of numerals
