- 1). Restart your computer. Press the "Pause Break" key when the startup screen appears. This screen comes up before the OS loading screen. If the OS screen appears before you hit "Pause Break," restart your PC and try again.
- 2). Review your screen message, which should read "Press the 'Esc' key to access setup," or something similar. The message, as well as the key to press, will vary depending upon your motherboard's manufacturer.
- 3). Hit "Pause Break" to unpause the screen, then press the indicated key to access your BIOS setup utility.
- 4). Press the arrows on your keyboard to select the "Advanced" or "Advanced BIOS Features" option. Hit "Enter" or press the right-arrow key.
- 5). Scroll through the list of options until you reach "Hard Disk Boot Priority." Hit "Enter" or press the right arrow key to open the corresponding menu.
- 6). Scroll through the list of drives until you locate the SATA drive you wish to boot from. Hit "Enter" to select the drive.
- 7). Save your settings, then exit the BIOS utility. Restart your computer. Your PC should boot from the specified SATA device.
