The wild west shouldn't be just for the boys. If your daughter decides she wants a cowgirl party for her birthday, there are a lot of things you can do to make sure that she and her guests have a great afternoon. By taking some of the classic elements of the wild west like horses, ropes, and trails, you can create an interesting and energetic cowgirl party for your daughter and her guests. - This classic game is too dangerous for children with regular metal horseshoes. However, it can be a viable option when you use plastic or weighted cardboard horseshoes. You can find the former in horseshoe games that you buy online or at your local games store, and you can make the latter yourself. Have kids stand a few feet away from a thin pole or box (how far away will depend on their age; for younger kids, three feet should be enough, and you can have as much as ten feet for older kids). Children should toss horseshoes towards the target. The guest who gets the most horseshoes on-target wins a prize.
- "Fishing" for prizes can be a great way to reward all of the children who attend a party. Set up a small child's wading pool, either in your backyard or in your living room. Don't fill it with water. Instead, purchase small prizes like bubbles, lip gloss, or age-appropriate books (preferably western-themed) and wrap them up, taping paper clips or small magnets onto the wrapping paper. Next, construct a "lasso" out of rope and a small pole. Put a larger magnet on the end of the pole. Have children go fishing in the pool for their prize. Whatever they catch, they get to keep.
- You can also have your cowgirls get into the Western theme with a trail scavenger hunt. In your backyard (or in the neighborhood, if you have enough chaperons for the guests), hide a variety of objects with western themes: small plastic ponies, cowgirl hats, and so on. Then, send girls out in small teams of two or three to search for the items, which they should bring back to the house. The team of girls who finds the most items should win prizes, one for each of them.
