Is Your Marriage Really Ready For Children?

Most people want to have at least a year or two together after they are married before they even consider adding a child into the relationship.
Some couples will wait even longer than that, perhaps up to ten years.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with waiting this long if that is what both parties want.
In fact, it might be better if more couples waited longer before starting a family for several reasons.
The most important things to consider before allowing yourself to become pregnant is whether or not your relationship is strong enough to survive the rigors of parenthood.
It will absolutely turn your relationship upside down and some couples can survive it and some just can not.
The time you have alone in the relationship is at at end in a lot of ways.
No longer will it just be the two of you, but the three of you or more if you were to have a multiple birth.
Multiple births can be extra hard for couples to make it through.
Sleepless nights, dirty diapers, continuous feedings, potty training, baby sitters and lots of new expenses will come into play right away.
During the pregnancy, you do have time to get accustomed to the idea of having a baby, but the reality of having a baby in the home is when you really realize that your life has changed forever.
Finding time to be alone and be intimate can be difficult.
There will be times when the baby sleeps, of course, but when the baby sleeps it will often be that the parents will be too exhausted to anything but sleep themselves as well.
Besides the strain that it will put on the time you have together, there is the financial burden to consider.
Babies are not cheap.
Many times people will say that a baby does not need that many things and they do not eat much.
Those people are the ones who have never had children! There are so many different things babies need all of the time.
They might not eat a lot at one time, but baby formula is not cheap and they go through a lot of it.
Diapers are a necessity whether you use disposables or not.
There is a lot of laundry to be done if you do not use them.
Even if you are lucky enough to have a perfectly healthy baby, then there are still plenty of routine doctor visits to contend with.
If your baby were to be born with special needs of some kind or have a serious illness, this is often too much for a couple to cope with.
This is not to say that you both will not love and cherish the child above all else, even each other.
After the baby period is over, then there is schooling and all the other things that children go through and you both will have to be a part of it all.
So, if you are newly married or even if you have been wed a few years already, you both need to consider very carefully as to whether or not you are really ready to bring a baby into your lives.
