Picture this...You are standing in the middle of the room. You look around and all you can see is piles and piles of clutter. We're talking about clutter that is threatening to swallow your house up completely. In fact, you look over to your right and you see books, books and more books. Some of these date back to your days of grammar school. Off to the side of those you see piles of paper and magazines. You can't remember the last time you read them of even what they are about.
Next you take a glance to the left and discover the kid's toys all over the place. There is what looks like a empty pizza box. There is trash, a hairbrush, miscellaneous clothing and a bag of candy. And what's this? There is something familiar In the pile of clothing. Is that the wrapped baby gift you thought you had sent your best friend about 6 months ago?
Right about now you are wondering what to do next. Do you hold your head and cry or do you strike a match and burn the place down? Unfortunately, there is not an easy way out of this one. Torching the place or balling your eyes out won't do the trick. If you're not burning down the place, there will still be books and clothes to put away. You'll have to sort through the mail and papers and take the trash out. That's right, you made the mess and now you have to clean it.
As overwhelming as it might seem, clutter clearing is not that tough. The first step you need to take is to get and stay focused. Remember this, if you don't prepare to succeed then you most certainly fail. If possible, call up a family member and see if they can watch the kids for awhile. This way you can work without interruptions.
The next thing to do is to write down all the clutter that you see around the room. After you have a list you need to prioritize that list. In other words, you need to make note of where the most and least clutter is. This will help you decide what pile to attack first. In no time at all you will have cleared a lot of your clutter. All you have to do is stay on task and keep focused.
After the list is done take everything out. Put the things you no longer need or desire into plastic bins for sale at a garage sale or perhaps donate them to charity. Not the pizza box though, that's going to have to go in the trash. Oops, sorry! I just had to throw some humor in. Anyways back to the task at hand. The next thing to do is to gather up all the cleaning materials you normally use. Once you got the area clutter free this would be a good time to vacuum or sweep the floor, dust the shelves off and clean the mirrors and glass surfaces.
The last step is to pat your-self on the back for a job well done. As you may have discovered, clearing the clutter from a room or house might be rough at first. However, once you have experienced the positive side of having a clean and tidy room, you are going to feel better about yourself and the home in general. You are going to be happy you took the time out to clear the clutter.
