- Get comfortable while sitting down in a chair. Focus on something no more than five feet away. Make sure you notice all the details of the object and keep your eyes smoothly moving. Never fix your eyes on one area of the object. After 20 seconds, move your focus to an object that is far away (at least 20 feet away). Move your eyes around the object for 20 seconds then switch back over to a different object that is close to you. Keep alternating between near and far objects until you have focused on four or five of each.
- Look at an object at a medium range distance from you and focus on a single point of it for five seconds. Move your eyes around the object to focus on another point for five seconds. Continue looking around the object until you have covered it in its entirety. Never look at the object as a whole, but keep your focus on every little detail you can possibly see.
- Fully extend your arm out directly in front of you and point your index finger to the sky. Focus on the tip of your index finger and slowly move your arm up until you can no longer see your finger without moving your head. Bring your arm back down to the center. Move your arm all the way to the right until your finger is no longer in your peripheral vision and then slowly bring it back to the center. Move your hand all the way down, bring it back to the center, then move your arm all the way to the left and finally return it to the center. Make sure to keep your head completely still while performing this exercise. Repeat the full exercise four to five times.
- Hold a pencil out in front of you at arm's length and focus on its tip. Once you have a steady focus, slowly bring the pencil toward you until the tip touches your nose. Keep your focus on the tip the entire time, and slowly push your arm back out to the starting position. Do this 10 times.
