- 1). Download and install a PDF writing program that has a feature that allows you to split or unmerge PDF files. Several free programs are available; for example PDFill (pdfill.com), PDF24 (en.pdf24.org) or PDF Creator (sourceforge.net). While the following steps use PDFill, most other programs follow the same process.
- 2). Launch PDFill PDF Editor. Click the "Free PDF Tools" menu and select the "Split or Reorder PDF Pages" option, which will open a separate dialog window.
- 3). Use the "Look in" menu to access the folder in which the PDF that you want to unmerge is stored. Select the file name and click the "Open" button, which will open a separate dialog window.
- 4). Click the "Split Pages" radio button. Enter the numbers of the pages in the PDF that you want to separate into the "From" and "To" fields. Click the "Extract Pages as Separate Files" box to save each separated page as an individual file, if desired. Click the "Save As" button, which will open a separate dialog window.
- 5). Use the "Save in" menu to select a folder in which to save the unmerged pages. Type a name for the file into the "File Name" field and click the "Save" button.
