- 1). Loosen the locking tuner that corresponds with the low E string, the first of the six tuners. Rotate the tuner in an anti-clockwise direction to loosen the string. Turn the tuning peg to lower the pitch of the string until it is very loose. Remove the string from the tuner and pull it over the saddle and through the back of the guitar. Discard the old E string.
- 2). Place a new low E string through the hole in the back of the bridge and pull it from the front over the saddle and up the fretboard of the guitar. Pass it through the hole in the locking tuner and pull it tight. Look at the back of the guitar bridge to ensure the string is all the way in.
- 3). Pull the string tight with your left hand and fasten the locking tuner using your right hand by turning it in a clockwise direction. It will grip the string and you can let go with your left hand. Cut the end of the string off using wire cutters. Plug the guitar into an electronic tuner and tune the string up to pitch.
- 4). Loosen the locking tuner that corresponds with the A string, the second of the six tuners. Rotate the tuner in an anti-clockwise direction to loosen the string. Turn the tuning peg to lower the pitch of the string until it is very loose. Remove the string from the tuner and pull it through from the back of the guitar. Discard the old A string.
- 5). Place a new A string through the hole in the back of the guitars bridge and pull it from the front over the saddle and up the fretboard of the guitar. Pass it through the hole in the second locking tuner and pull it tight. Look at the back of the guitar bridge to ensure the string is all the way in.
- 6). Pull the string tight with your left hand and fasten the locking tuner using your right hand by turning it in a clockwise direction. Cut the end of the string off using wire cutters. Plug the guitar into an electronic tuner and tune the string up to pitch.
- 7). Replace the D, G, B and E strings on the guitar. Ensure each of the six locking tuners are fastened by turning them all in a clockwise direction. Gently stretch each of the six strings one at a time at both the bridge end and along the neck of the guitar. Re-tune each string to pitch. Repeat the stretching of each string twice more and re-tune to pitch.
- 8). Check each locking tuner and ensure it is tightly fastened. Stretching the strings may loosen the tuners. Re-tune the guitar once more and when all six strings are in tune the string change is complete.
