- 1). Strip the outer jacket back 1 inch, using a utility knife. If you nick the inner wire, cut the cable and try again.
- 2). Cut off the braided wire, leaving 1/4 inch exposed. Roll the remaining braid back over the outer jacket.
- 3). Trim back the white insulator so that 1/8 inch remains. Cut the center conductor so that 3/8 inch remains.
- 4). Slide the RJ-45 connector onto the cable. Twist the connector to ensure that the cable is against the stop.
- 5). Crimp the back end of the connector with the crimping tool. Hold the connector in one hand and pull the cable with the other hand to ensure a solid connection.
- 1). Repeat steps one through three above.
- 2). Slide the ferrule 2 inches onto the cable. Slide the connector body onto the cable as far as it will go.
- 3). Slide the ferrule up against the end of the connector body.
- 4). Crimp the ferrule and the back edge of the connector body with the crimping tool.
