- 1). Select a corner point for one point of the fence. Place a stake at this location. This is an arbitrary decision based on the desired location of the fence.
- 2). Tie two strings to the stake. Mark a distance of 12 feet on one string and 9 feet on the other string.
- 3). Measure the diagonal between the marks. Adjust the strings until the diagonal measurement is 15 feet. At this point the corner is 90 degrees. Place stakes at the marked point of each of the strings.
- 4). Continue the strings to the next planned corner. Repeat the process of marking the strings and making diagonal measurements to create a 90-degree corner at these points.
