- 1). Avoid refined carbs, which are processed simple carbs. For instance; cut out pasta, bread, white rice and sugary candy as well as some cereals. Refined carbs typically have little nutritional value and contain empty calories.
- 2). Continue to eat unrefined carbs, such as vegetables and whole grains, if you are on a moderately-restrictive diet. Eat unrefined carbs to get important nutrients you need. A moderately-restrictive diet is beneficial because you have a lower chance of gaining the weight back.
- 3). Write out a plan for your weekly grocery list. Stick to a well-known diet plan, such as the Atkins Diet, which has been reviewed by medical professionals. The Atkins diet requires you to eat a lot of protein and fat while it severely limits the refined carbs you eat.
- 4). Go on the Zone Diet to limit the amount of refined and unrefined carbs in your diet. The Zone Diet permits you to eat a small portion of protein and a little larger portion of favorable carbs, or a smaller portion of unfavorable carbs. Simply change the type of food you eat without limiting calories.
- 5). Follow the South Beach Diet if you like snacking. Enjoy healthy snacking throughout the day so you never go hungry. In addition, eat low-sugar carbs while on the South Beach Diet.
