• North Branch, Minnesota was incorporated in 1881 and named for the northern branch of the Sunrise River. Although the town had meager beginnings, it grew into a thriving city when the freeway opened in 1969. The city has two major motels within the city and others located close by. • Visitors to nearby Lindstrom Lake, just 22 minutes from North Branch, may want to consider an alternative to the typical hotel. Rose Hill Resort offers two bedroom cabins that include full kitchens, a deck that has a grill, and a porch with a lakeside view. There are boat rentals for those who wish to take an excursion along the coast and they come in rowboat, pontoon and motorboat models.
