Before you begin any woodworkers projects you need to make sure that you have the right tools and materials to create your masterpiece from.
However sometimes people are put off from carrying out such projects as the cost of wood can prove quite prohibitive.
But if you know where to look there are plenty of places where it is relatively cheap to buy it from.
In this article we take a look at just some of the ways you can now buy wood for such projects for less than you would normally.

Lumber Shorts - Anybody who sells wood to shops will also sell shorts.
These are the pieces of wood that have a knot or other defect in them and which has resulted in the board being given a lower grade.
Generally any defects will be cut out and this then results in short pieces of wood which are sold for much less.
You will often find that these are for sale as small bundles and each board generally measures between 1 and 4 feet long.

Cut-offs - If you were to visit any cabinet shop who use a great deal off top grade lumber they are happy to sell of the cut offs and shorts that they have and which they won't be using themselves.
The owners of such shops are more than happy to sell of such pieces of wood rather than just throwing them away.

Kiln Dry Your Own Wood - Although you may think this sounds complicated to do, in fact it isn't.
Certainly if you are someone who is doing a great deal of woodworkers projects then kiln drying your own wood can prove very profitable.
However you will of course need to invest money in a small kiln dryer but this will soon give you a good return as you will be able to buy wood much more cheaply.
Plus you could always sell on any additional wood you have dried to others.

Wood Buying Co-Op - Today plenty of wood dealers will allow people to buy from them at a discounted price depending on how much they wish to buy.
If you know of other people working on woodworking projects near where you live may be you could join together to buy much larger amounts for considerably less.
Also see if there are any clubs local to you that you can join as they will often buy wood in bulk for their members.
