How to Fix MP3 Player Earbuds

    • 1). Push the jack running out of the earbuds completely into the port on the MP3 player. If the jack isn't connected completely, you will only receive about half the usual audio volume.

    • 2). Turn the volume down. Lower quality headphones can't produce louder low and high note frequencies, resulting in distortion.

    • 3). Dry off the earbuds. If you are out in the rain or have been working out, the sweat/moisture can affect the speakers, causing them to crackle. Over-exposure to the moisture and sweat can ruin the earbuds.

    • 4). Check to see if you have the correct side pushed into your ear. Many earbud sets are made to fit into either the left or right ear; and if you have them backwards, the earbuds may not seat correctly.

    • 5). Unplug the earbuds and let them sit for a few hours if the buds have become excessively wet or the audio distortion doesn't clear up. Having the audio on too loud for an extended period of time can also damage the headsets. After a few hours, plug the pair back into the MP3 player and listen to the music. If distortion continues, you need to purchase a new set of earbuds.
