Gotu Kola Herb and Its Use in Skin Infections

I read a newspaper article recently by a well known astrologer.
He mentioned that a long time ago, he visited a specialist doctor in the capital city with a friend of his who, had had a skin infection for which he had taken treatment for many years without any relief.
But this specialist whom he remembered as one Dr Wilson examined the patient and had told him that there is a treatment for his skin infection, but wondered if he will accept his recommendation.
The patient has told the specialist that he will get it down even from America or England.
The doctor just smiled and said that he will find it in his backyard garden.
It is the Gotu Kola (Centella Asiatica) growing freely around coconut trees and such places.
This is not the commercially grown variety with big leaves.
But the creeper type Gotukola with small leaves.
He has advised the patient to take a handful of Gotu Kola leaves along with the roots, wash well and drain out the water well, and pound it or blend it and take two teaspoonfuls of the extract or juice daily for three months.
He had said the skin infection will definitely be cured.
I myself had skin infection and was taking treatment from a skin specialist for nearly one year and was recovering slowly.
After reading the news article I decided to try this treatment with Gotu Kola juice of two teaspoonfuls daily.
It is a little difficult to find this herb in the city, but it is available at some vegetable stalls.
After about six days of the use of this remedy, I felt relief as the numbness around the infected area vanished and the scar became less visible.
After 20 days the scar completely disappeared.
Many people do not realize the value of such treatment which could be available for very low price, and free if you have garden with Gotu Kola growing there.
It is regrettable that some drug companies do not encourage information such as these going to the general public.
They can make medicines from unknown remedies such as these and sell the drugs at exorbitant rates.
Gotukola is known as a rejuvenative nervine which strengthen the nerves, recommended for nervous disorders, epilepsy, senility, and premature ageing.
As a brain tonic it it supposed to aid intelligence and memory.
It strengthens the adrenal glands and cleanses the blood to treat skin impurities.
It is said to combat stress and depression, increase libido and increase reflexes.
Gotukola has long been used in topical, oral and injected forms to treat leprosy.
In addition to its ability to heal the soars associated with leprosy, gotukola may also have anti-bacterial properties.
Evidence from studies show that the chemicals substance in Gotu Kola may damage the cell walls of the bacteria that cause leprosy.
The weakened bacteria are easier for body's immune system to eliminate.
