• Symptoms of osteonecrosis of the jaw may include gum infections that are frequent and prolonged, seemingly without healing.
  
  

Jaw Numbness

• The jaw bone may become numb of feel heavy if osteonecrosis has developed. According to the National Osteoporosis Foundation, the lower jaw is more commonly affected than the upper jaw bone.
  
  

Teeth and Bone Problems

• A person with osteonecrosis may experience loose teeth and have parts of the jaw bone that are exposed.
  
  

Drainage

• Wounds in the gums or areas of the exposed jawbone may drain as complications of osteonecrosis.
