- Found in the northern part of Portugal, Braga is a historic city that was once home to Roman, Visigoth and Moor conquerors. During the semana santa, or holy week, in April, Braga hosts a large celebration with processions of people wearing hooded robes. Se Cathedral of Braga is a twelfth century cathedral that houses a treasury and sacred art museum. The museum has a fourteenth century virgin statue. The Old Archbishop's Palace is a fourteenth century building with medieval, sixteenth century and eighteenth century wings. It also features a seventeenth century castle fountain.
- Found in southern Portugal, Lagos was once a port city. Today it is known for its beaches, including the white sandy beaches of Meia Praria and coved beaches of Praria de Camilo. Because of its beaches, Lagos is considered a good spot for surfing and sailing. There are a number of water tours leaving from Lagos, including the Grotto Tour and Dolphin Seafari. The Grotto Tour is a fishing boat tour of cliffs surrounding Lagos, and the Dolphin Seafari is a dolphin watching boat tour on the Atlantic Ocean.
- Located in southern Portugal, Beja was a regional capital during the country's Roman era. In Beja, one major landmark is the Castle, a structure that was built in 1310. From the castle, it is possible to view the Alentejo agricultural region. The castle features the Torre de Menagem, a battlement with a walkway. The Visigoth Basilica of San Amaro is a church that was built during the Visigoth period in Portugal, during the fifth century. This church features interior columns and a portion of the Rainha D. Leonor Regional Museum. The museum has displays of weapons, tombstones and pottery.
- A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Evora is a city found in southern Portugal. The Temple de Diana is a temple that was built by the Romans in the second century with 18 granite Corinthian columns, 14 of which survive today. The Praca de Giraldo is a square where one can find a number of shops and cafes as well as a fountain built in 1571. During the Inquisition, the square served as an execution grounds. Built in 1186, the Se Cathedral is made up of two towers, with Gothic and Romanesque designs. The cathedral houses the Sacred Art Museum, which features an ivory virgin statue. At the Church of Sao Francisco, one will find the Chapel of Bones, where there is a display of the bones and skulls of 5,000 individuals.
- Found in the northern part of Portugal, the Peneda Geres National Park was founded in 1971. It is home to animals, such as the royal eagle, wild ferret, Seoane viper, Luisitanian salamander, wild boar and wolf. The national park also has a number of plants, such as the rare Geres fern, the woodland pine, the white birth and the cork oak.
- Found in the center of Portugal, Nazare is a traditional fishing village that is popular for its beaches. In the city, it is possible to see natives wearing traditional clothing and oxen pulling wooden boats from the ocean. The Nossa Senhora da Navare Church features eighteenth century tiles with paintings of biblical scenes as well as an image of Our Lady of Nazareth, which is brought down to the sea every September during a processional. Nazare is also home to the Capela de Memoria, which was build in dedication of a nobleman who is said to have been saved from falling off a cliff by the Virgin Mary.
