My family just recently bought a new home and it is now being renovated.
The walls are being painted andthe carpets are being pulled out and being replaced with hardware flooring.
Yesterday my sister called me, very frustrated, complaining about not knowing which hardware company to go with.
So I asked her what kind of research she had done where she was looking, and it was her response that got me thinking.
She said, "Well the only companies I looked at were ones alone; I mean at this point if you're (referring to hardware flooring companies) not online, you cannot expect my business.
" If you think about it, she's right.
Many consumers, like my sister, do their research online and only buy from companies whom they are more familiar with.
Well, if ABC Flooring does not have an online website or a Facebook page, they might as well consider themselves invisible.
Most people nowadays solely use theinternet to assist them in making a decision, any decision really, and if you are not branding yourself online, you're already narrowing your audience.
The reason behind this is that, quite frankly, we are always online.
Whether is to quickly check an email, or even check the score of a game, the world wide web is always at our fingertips..
literally! Even at work, we are at one point or another surfing the web.
The point is that by subjecting ourselves to the online world, we are basically subjecting ourselves to be socially influenced.
I think it is safe to say that social media is a drug, and we're all addicted.
