A DIY Boudoir Lamp

    • 1). Give an old lamp a new paint job. Remove the shade and cover the metal parts of the lamp and the cord with painter's tape, then use spray paint to accentuate the lamp in boudoir styles. Choose a classic color such as ivory or black, romantic pastels or sensual deep reds and pinks.

    • 2). Glue trim onto a lamp shade to give it Antoinette style. Glue a strand of pearls, a strip of lace or a length of ribbon with beaded trim around the top and bottom edges of the lamp shade. This little bit of texture and sparkle will add a romantic touch to the shade and the lamp itself.

    • 3). Glue large feathers in white, black or pastel shades around the lamp shade. Arrange the feathers all over the shade, gluing them in layers. Add a row at the top that curve up and out, away from the shade. Wrap a length of lace or velvet trim around this portion of the lamp to hide the feather ends.

    • 4). Use a pair of fishnet stockings to give the lamp a sensual style. Spray paint the lamp in a shade like black, red or hot pink, then pull a pair of stockings (just one leg) over the shade. Cut off the stockings on either end and wrap the edges inside the shade, then glue or tape in place.
