- 1). Cut a length of rope to use as a tether. Choose a length that will allow the desired range of motion for a dog when tethered. Cut the rope with a knife.
- 2). Attach a swivel snap to one end of the rope with a Figure 8 Follow Through knot. Form the knot by first tying a Figure 8 knot in one end of the line.
- 3). Tie the Figure 8 knot by turning the rope back across itself to form a loop 12 inches from the end of the rope. Insert the free end of the rope through the loop to form a loose Figure 8 knot.
- 4). Feed the free end of the rope through the attachment hole of a swivel snap. Pull the rope through the snap. Guide the rope through the Figure 8 knot to form a double Figure 8. Pull the knot tight.
- 5). Attach a second swivel snap in the opposite end of the rope tether with another Figure 8 Follow Through knot.
