Eczema is a chronic skin disorder that affects about 34 million Americans. Its symptoms include dry skin, redness, swelling, flaking, blistering, cracking and constant itching.
The condition is aggravated by numerous skin problems, including reactions to laundry soap or even heat.
Several natural remedies use cucumbers to treat eczema. Cucumbers are beneficial because they are one of nature's natural healing remedies. Cucumber water can be ingested to alleviate dry, itchy skin. It also can ease rashes and inflammation.
Cut a cucumber into cube-size pieces. Boil the pieces in two cups of water for 15 minutes. Once it is cooled down, pour the mixture through a strainer. Apply the water to skin. Repeat several times.

Cucumber juice also is fantastic for your nervous system because it contains potassium. The remedy can help many conditions, such as acne and arthritis.
The juice recipe makes about four cups.
Peel six medium-sized cucumbers. Slice the ends off. Chop into a number of large pieces. Put the pieces into a food processor until it is pulpy looking, about two minutes. Place a strainer over a large bowl. Pour the cucumber pulp into the strainer. Use a spatula to gently stir it until there is no more juice coming out. Even after we believe we have thoroughly cleaned our face to remove all the dirt and grime, often hidden dirt remains within our pores. This hidden dirt and grime can irritate your skin and cause the eczema to flair up. A cucumber mask can remove irritants like dirt that have accumulated on your face during the day.
Mask
1 cup kaolin powder (fine clay)
1/4 cup corn flour
1 tablespoon finely ground rolled oats
1 teaspoon dry skim milk powder
2 drops of essential oil
1 tablespoon grated cucumber
Mix together kaolin, corn flour and oats. Store in jar with lid tightly secure. This mixture is your base mixture.
When you wish to make a mask, mix one tablespoon of the base mixture with the skim milk powder and grated cucumber. Add essential oils. Mix until you have a soft paste. The paste needs to be stiff enough to stay on your face, but not so stiff that it would dry into clay. Smooth the mask over your face. Allow to dry about 10 minutes. Rinse off with lukewarm water. Cucumbers have many healing and hydrating properties, which is why cucumber is a popular ingredient in lotions, creams and facial masks. Cucumbers are just as beneficial for you when eaten. Cucumbers are a refreshing food to consume, especially on hot days.
Salad
Use a vegetable peeler to peel a cucumber. Slice in half lengthwise. Slice into thin slices. Place the slices in a salad bowl with two red tomatoes cut into wedges. Add in a quarter of a thinly sliced red onion. Mix together.
In another bowl, mix a quarter cup of rice vinegar with two tablespoons of lime juice. Add one tablespoon of white sugar. Stir until the sugar dissolves. Pour this mixture over the salad. Toss the mixture. Cover the bowl. Place in refrigerator for at least 30 minutes or until completely chilled. Immediately before serving, sprinkle three tablespoons of chopped peanuts on top, if desired.
