Are you in Queensland-Australia at the moment?
I am and I'm discovering new places by the day.
Isn't it cool to be on the road traveling?
We were coming across from Normanton way and decided to drop into the Undara Lava Tubes National Park. They are telling me that this area is unique to Queensland-Australia. Well it's not 100% unique but it's some of the best lava tubes you will find in the world. So we went into the resort, about 15 km off the main highway on a sealed road.
We discovered a nice little place tucked into the scrub. There was a range of options for what we wanted to do. There were non-powered camping sites right up to the cosy old railway cabins. We chose the tent- rooms which were very cosy and affordable. While there, we chose to go on a tour, to the bushmanâEUR(TM)s breakfast and the restaurant.
All were great even if it felt slightly over-priced. It is a definite do on our list and we might do it again in the near future. What a nice place in Queensland-Australia. After staying one night, we headed north towards Atherton and Cairns. We just couldn't wait for the country to change. The dry forest country was slowly changing into the wet tropics of the east coast. It is difficult to ge tour head around just how much the country can change.
I had to keep thinking that Queensland-Australia is a massive state. It is way bigger than some countries and has all different climates. When we got to Atherton, it really was something different. The windy road was a change after hundreds of kilometres of just straight ahead driving. The country also changed to dairy farms and rolling cleared hills. The sound of music movie really was in my head. Know what I mean?
Just so European.
It was a place that was highly developed by Europeans after they landed and started to implement their ways on Australia. Are you hooked on Queensland-Australia yet?.
As I continue to construct my website [http://www.queensland-down-under.com], I am loving it.
All of these experiences that I am having traveling are helping me a lot. I guess it took me a few years after school to realize what a great state I'm living in. Queensland Down Under is there for you to get an idea about Queensland and Australia.
The site is continually developing and feel free to have a look at it.
Until next time,
Colin Burnett
