Go to Sumo Paint's website (see Resources). Click on the text, "Open Sumo Paint and start fooling around!" - 2
Select the Curve tool from the tool bar to the left. Draw the spine of the first letter. To do this, click the mouse on the beginning point and drag down, while holding the mouse button down. The line you've drawn is gray, indicating that it is now ready to be curved. Hover the mouse over the middle section of the line, and then click and drag it to its final position. The line color will then change to black. - 3
Complete the letter outline shape. Close any gaps or spaces in the letter shape. Use the Curve tool to draw the inner cutout of each letter than contains it. Draw the rest of the letter shapes. - 4
Use the Move tool from the tool bar to center the letters on the canvas. The letters will move as one group, unless you created a different layer for each letter. Create new layers by pressing the "New Layer" button on the Layer's box to the right. - 5
Use the Fill Bucket tool to change the foreground color from black to blue, #33cccc. Position the Fill Bucket icon inside a letter shape and then click to fill the letter with color. Repeat for each letter. - 6
Right-click on the "Background" layer, and select "Duplicate," creating "Layer 1." Right-click on the original "Background" layer and then select "Delete." Select the Magic Wand tool from the tool bar, and click on the white part of the background. Hit the "Delete button" on your keyboard to erase the white background. Delete the white background inside the inner shapes as well. - 7
Create a new layer and move it beneath the "Layer 1." Select the Gradient tool from the tool bar and click on the gradient color under the menu bar. Input colors to #dbf6a3 and #dca2ca. - 8
Drag the Gradient from the upper left corner of the canvas to the bottom right. This creates a more interesting gradient. Play around to see what colors and angles work best for your design. - 9
Go to Layer on the menu bar, and select "Bevel." Change the highlight to 50 and the shadow to 100. Change the X and Y axes to 25 each. Change strength to 10, distance to 15 and angle to 180. - 10
Create another layer and select the Brush tool from the tool bar. In the Brush drop-down menu, under the menu bar, select the "3-Ball brush." Change both the Post FX level and the Ink Flow to 55, and click on the box to "Randomly Rotate." - 11
Begin painting under the letters, and alternate the colors from black to blue (#33cccc) by changing the foreground color before brushing. - 12
Save your work to your hard drive.
